It is that time of year again where the leaves start to change, the air gets a little crisper, and pumpkins start popping up everywhere. Fall is finally here and it is time to find fun activities to do in Bucks County. Luckily for you, this article is going to give you some ideas of where to go and what’s going on in the county. There are many fun ways to spend this time of year from fall festivities to Halloween horrors, Bucks County has it all.

Scarecrows in the Village- Every year at Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, PA scarecrows fill the paths dressed as different characters and different costumes. This is a six-week event throughout the months of September and October. This event is free as you get to walk through the village and see all the fun decorations. There are around 150 scarecrows, so make sure to keep your eye out and participate in this fall fun! The scarecrows were made by people and organizations throughout the area. People can participate in a vote to see who has the most creative design and whoever wins gets a prize.

Fallfest- Shady Brook Farm’s annual Fallfest is here! Shady Brook Farms is located in Yardley. They have many activities ranging from their 4-acre corn maze to their pumpkin patch and wagon rides. After dark they have other events that you can participate in like the halloween light show! They have a moonlit maze and haunted barn and alien encounters! On the weekends they have bonfires and live music to enjoy after you finish a fall-filled day. The ticket prices depend on what activities you will participate in and what time you order them. They are open everyday of the week except for Monday and Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. This is an amazing experience for everyone at every age.

Solebury Orchards Apple Picking- Even though Solebury is open all year round for berry picking we know the real magic happens when the apples start to grow. They have some of the best apple picking around. They are located in Bucks County, PA. During apple picking season the orchards to pick your own apples are open on Thursday-Sunday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM. On Saturdays and Sundays you need to call ahead and make a reservation to go apple picking, but on Thursdays and Fridays you don’t need to. Also, while you’re there, take a quick trip to the store by the entrance of the orchards and try some of their fresh frozen apple cider and apple cider donuts. They have hayrides that take you into the orchards where you have a wide selection of apples to choose from. 

Autumn Alive!- On October 18, Broad Street, from 4th Ave to Hellertown Ave, in Quakertown is going to be flooded with pets! The Broad Street Pet Parade is coming up! There will be fun activities for everyone in the family. They have children’s activities, live music, cupcake contests, and many more! If you are 21 years or older you can enjoy samples of beer and wine. There will be vendors lining the streets so you can see some of their products and what they are about. If you have a pet and want to dress them up, take them to the Pet Parade, it is the perfect place for it.

Trunk or Treating- Since Halloween is on its way there are many things around the community to participate in like trunk or treats. Boo at the Elmwood Zoo is a fun trunk or treat at the Elmwood Park Zoo. It runs on the weekends from October 4 – October 26 and the hours are different. The Elmwood park Zoo is located in Norristown, PA and they have many cool animals to check out. While the animals are cool, during this time there will be fun stations and activities set up throughout the zoo while you are enjoying your adventure. It is encouraged to wear your costumes and bring bags for your goodies. Another fun zoo that does this is the Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville, PA. Boo at the Lehigh Valley Zoo runs from the weekends of October 11 – October 26 from 11 AM to 3:30 PM. Bring costumes and trick or treating bags. On October 25 and 26, the grand finale, there will be a Family costume contest and each group must have a child under 13 to participate. 

The fall is filled with many activities so take advantage while you can and participate in all of the fun. These are some of the best things to do in Bucks County during this season.
