An essential part of a high school experience is attending a school dance. With less than 3 months left of the school year, excitement for prom is only increasing. Many students begin the preparations for prom as early as March, including prom proposals, buying outfits, and deciding if they even want to go. The when, where, and why are all crucial for students to know before making any plans

Palisades’ will hold its prom on May 10th at Lehigh University’s Iacocca Conference Center. Iaccoca is a popular venue for school dances, meetings, and even weddings! Before COVID, Palisades commonly used this venue for prom. The conference center’s main perk is a stunning view of the Lehigh Valley through the windows lining every wall. Contemporary furniture and modern and fun lighting are also included. The theme “A Night in the Valley” is supported by the gorgeous views of Lehigh Valley and decorations.
While students wait for prom to officially begin, they can mingle in the lookout tower to enjoy even more spectacular scenery. Prom will begin at 6:00 PM and end at 10:00 PM. Doors will open at 5:30 PM. Iacocca Conference Center has plenty of room in its parking lot for students. Ticket prices have not yet been determined, so make sure to pay attention to the morning announcements for information on ticket prices and when they go on sale.
The leadership team of the Junior Class, who are responsible for planning prom every year, want to remind students that prom is a “very formal event at a very nice venue” and to thus “dress accordingly and appropriately.” Remember, all school rules, including dress code, apply to prom. Formal wear for prom is typically floor-length dresses or suits and ties. While students must adhere to the dress code, it is important that they also wear what makes them comfortable. For more information on how to dress and prepare for prom on a budget, see Gianna Gammello’s article on Prom on a Budget!
Guest procedure for prom will remain the same this year. Slips to request to bring a non-Palisades student are available in the front office. Since these requests must be signed by both schools, it would be beneficial to start the process early to avoid any last-minute frustrations.
Remember to keep up with the morning announcements and watch out for emails to get updated information about prom. Every year, prom is a fun, worthwhile event. Start planning today to make a great night even greater!
