Tis’ the season to watch Christmas movies! Movies have a major part in getting into the Christmas spirit. A survey was sent out asking Palisades students and staff what their favorite holiday movie is and why it was their favorite holiday movie. These were the top five movies that were voted in the survey.

    5. National Lampoon’s Christmas VacationNational Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a family-loved holiday movie. It is a tradition in many households to watch this movie during Christmas time. This movie earned a 24.1% vote at Palisades for the best Christmas movie. This movie is pure comedy and always makes the audience laugh. The Griswold family is one big mess when it comes to Christmas, from the in-laws to the decorations. This is a movie many families can relate to, just because everything gets crazy during this season.

    4. A Charlie Brown ChristmasA Charlie Brown Christmas is a classic that came in fourth place with 25.3%. This movie is all about Charlie Brown trying to make Christmas less of a greedy holiday and more about the birth of Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. Charlie Brown struggles with unspirited friends and wants them to enjoy the faith of Christmas. He encourages them to help him decorate a Christmas tree to bring them together for a holiday of love and happiness. This movie is so heart-warming and really brings the true meaning of Christmas.

    3. Polar ExpressPolar Express came in third place with 29.1% because of its family-friendly Christmas story about a magical train that takes kids to the North Pole on Christmas Eve to see Santa. This is a great movie to watch when it’s cold out, and there is a fire going in your fireplace, cuddling up on the couch with a hot chocolate in hand. This movie also has great animations and a great overall story. It helps kids’ imaginations come to life and lets them imagine a night just like the kids in the movie.

    2. Home Alone– This is such a classic Christmas movie, coming in 2nd place with 32.9%. Home Alone involves a kid who wishes his family would disappear the day before they are going to France for their Christmas vacation. Being in a big family, with people running around trying to catch their flight, Kevin gets forgotten by his family upstairs, and he has to defend his house from robbers while his parents try to get back home to him. This movie gets everyone in the Christmas spirit. The comedy and action in this movie make it one that everyone loves.

  1. Elf- “Santa! I know him!” Elf came in the number one slot with 65.8%. This movie is always quoted at Christmas time because it is such a memorable movie. Buddy the Elf was adopted by elves as a baby, but he always wondered who his real dad was. Once he finds his dad and realizes his father isn’t as spirited as himself, Elf tries his hardest to bring him happiness. This movie takes away the Bah-Humbug and brings the Christmas cheer. 

These are funny and heartwarming Christmas movies to enjoy this holiday season. Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey. We hope you enjoy watching your holiday movies this season with your family and friends.
