Taylor Swift, who has taken the world by storm with her music and release of her latest album: The Tortured Poets Department, posted on her Instagram on August 3, 2023, “Turns out it’s not the end of an era Miami, New Orleans, Indy, and Toronto: The Eras Tour is coming to you in 2024.” At this time Swift has not given a reason for this tour extension. However many of her fans, who have coined themselves as Swifties, believe that she is doing this for her fans. Swift treats her fans like close friends, so many people feel that she is countining her tour to give fans another chance to interact with her. A poll of students around Palisades believes the reason for Swift’s adding tour dates is to increase her income or to spend more time with her fans.

Swift started the Eras Tour on March 17, 2023. For her new extension of the Eras Tour, she is set to perform in countries that include Japan, Australia, Singapore, France, Sweden, Portugal, The United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Netherlands—as well as Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland, Austria, Canada, and British Columbia.
Money concerns circulated her tour when it first started. This included the price of concert tickets and other expenses and how much money she was making. For normal concerts, every 100 dollars spent on performances creates an additional 300 dollars for expenses like housing, transportation, and food. Yet fans of Swift are going above and beyond spending approximately 1,300 dollars on necessities, merchandise, and outfits. Critics estimated that the Eras Tour will lead to a consumer spending of close to 5 billion dollars in just the United States. Various people have been discussing just how much they think Swift will boost the economy, and the U.S. Travel Association says, “We believe that the total economic impact likely exceeded $10 billion.” So far, the tour has boosted the U.S. economy by over 4.6 billion dollars and it is suspected that her tour will continue to boost the economy with her extension.
Fans are very excited to go and see her perform and they are thankful that she has added more tour dates. People have been wondering if she will be singing any songs from her newest album The Tortured Poets Department or not. Her goal with her surprise songs is that they could only be played once and not repeated for the rest of the tour, so fans have been excited to find out which songs she will be playing at their concert.
